8 Reasons to Avoid Cheap Glasses

The debate every shopper faces is quality versus price. We all want to get the most bang for our buck, which means sometimes we sacrifice quality in hopes that it is good enough for our needs. While this may work for a pair of jeans or a couple of office pens, the quality of your glasses is not something you will want to sacrifice.

If you are looking to buy glasses online, you can rest easy knowing there are plenty of options out there on the market that will give you a good price for good quality. However, if you still need a bit of convincing, then here are a few reasons why purchasing a pair of cheap glasses will do more harm than good.

You will end up spending more

If you are looking to purchase a pair of glasses and opt for the cheap pair, they may last you a while, but certainly will not last as long as a more expensive pair. Generally, the higher the price of the glasses, the higher quality you are going to get. This means you will be able to wear them longer while they will also be able to withstand more wear.

Lower quality glasses are also less likely to have a warranty which means if something does happen you are out of luck. This differs from quality glasses where a warranty is an option and can extend the life of your glasses even further.

2) They look cheap

If you are buying a pair of cheap glasses, you will get what you pay for! Oftentimes cheap glasses look like poor quality and the longer you wear the worse the condition will appear. This may persuade you to buy another pair to update your look. You are better off purchasing a more expensive pair you know you will love and know it will last.

3) Quality over Quantity

You can only wear one pair of glasses at a time, so is it really worth it to have ten inexpensive pairs over one high-quality pair? Do some research to find some frames you truly love and wouldn?t mind wearing regularly. You will likely find that having one good pair over ten, is actually much easier to style.

4) One size doesn?t fit all

When you purchase a pair of cheap glasses you can expect a one size fits all approach. There is going to be little to no care that goes into making sure the pair fits nicely on your face. This differs from more high-quality brands that are happy to work alongside you to make sure you will find a pair that fits well.

5) Jack of all trades, master of none

Do you ever notice online how cheap glasses often have a million pairs to choose from? This differs drastically from designer brands that often have a smaller selection. This is because more of their budget is spent on research, development, and design. Whereas, cheaper brands focus on putting out lots of different options to cast a wider net.

They aren?t focused on great quality or fantastic fit. They want to appeal to as many people as possible, making them a master in very few areas. So while this may not bother you and you may just be looking for a cheap pair, you may find over time that the glasses don?t really serve their intended purpose as you once hoped.

6) Warranties

We mentioned a while back how you should consider the warranty you would receive with a more expensive brand versus an inexpensive brand. If I asked you to name some expensive designer brands you could probably name a couple. This differs from low-quality brands. You may need to take another minute or two to even come up with one. Why is that?

Designer brands have been around for a while and will likely be around for a while longer. This means you are more likely to take advantage of the warranty attached to your glasses. This differs from inexpensive brands that come and go more frequently. Who knows how long they will be around!? Who knows if you will be able to take advantage of the warranty when you actually need it!

7) Vision Correction Issues

If you are getting a pair of prescription glasses then you will also want to consider the quality of the lenses as it relates to your eyesight. You now know that lower quality may mean the frames aren?t as sturdy or the lenses may crack more easily, but now they may even mess with your eyesight! Where do we draw the line!?

This can snowball into other issues. If the vision prescription is off, you risk causing headaches and eyestrain from looking through lenses that are not designed for your eyes.

8) UV Protection

Some glasses come with UV Protection. This may be an option for both expensive and inexpensive pairs, but you probably already know which quality option you can trust! While inexpensive pairs may be able to charge you a couple of dollars more for their ?UV Protection? it may not be good protection. There are varying levels of UV security that can be applied to a lens. How do you know if it is a level you can trust?

This fails in comparison to more expensive glasses where they will not only tell you there is good UV Protection, but they will explain at what levels and how the UV Protection is applied. But giving you more information you will be confident in your purchase and know your eyes will be protected no matter the circumstances you find yourself in.
